Josh Turner Reaches the Top of the Singles Chart for the First Time in Six Years With “Hometown Girl”

Josh Turner is back on top.

Six years after earning his previous No. 1 single with 2010’s “All Over Me,” Josh has reached the top of the Mediabase chart with “Hometown Girl.” Written by Marc Beeson and Daniel Tashian, “Hometown Girl” is the second single from Josh’s sixth studio album, Deep South, which dropped on March 10 and reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Album’s chart.

“I feel like this song kind of basically speaks to my female fan base,” says Josh to Nash Country Daily. “I feel like for my female fans, there’s definitely bits and pieces of it that they can just kind of pick and choose from. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s me’ or ‘Oh, this is me’ or whatever. I’m seeing that every night that I play it. The girls just love it. For the guys, I think that’s the kind of girl that they’re looking for—or they already have one or at least they hope they do. I love the message of the song and the melody is so catchy.”
